Overview

For our spring ESLP, we decided to add to our garden and clean it up as well. We added five new drought tolerant plants to the perimeter of our garden. We started out with removing all of the weeds within the garden so that they wouldn't overtake any of our new or existing plants. We planted the new plants with potting soil and covered it with the existing soil and tan bark that was already within the garden. We decided to cover the plants with the tan bark because the tan bark will aid the plants by absorbing most of the sun's rays, so that way the soil does not dry up as quickly. This will also be beneficial in summertime, when there is a chance that the plants may not receive a lot of water.

It has been about three weeks since we planted the new garden additions, we checked up on them for the first time since May 15th. The plants look very healthy and happy since we have been watering them at least once every week. Over the summer, we plan to continue to water them once a week until all of the new additions have matured enough to survive on their own without frequent watering.

Entry 5/15

After about a week, we decided to check in on our garden and water the newly placed plants. The plants have all survived and are thriving. We are going to continue to water them weekly, and hopefully water them over the summer occasionally as well. So far, our plants look like they have not been harmed and are doing well regarding the hot and cold weather we have been enduring the past week.
